Suzuki GSX – R750 Review

Japanese automobile company Suzuki Motor Corporation has a long history of making fast and desirable motorbikes. The GSX- R750 is one of the most recognizable motorcycles and has a heritage that began in the 1980s. It was one of the first road legal bikes that drew from racing elements to provide people an exhilarating experience. The modern GSX is still one of the most enjoyable bikes in the world as it provides a fine balance of power and agility.

Powertrain

As the name suggests, the Suzuki GSX-R750 comes powered by a 750 cc 4-cylinder, 4-stroke DOHC engine that features an oversquare bore/stroke ratio which enables it to provide high revving performance. It comes with shot-peened conrods, forged pistons, pentagonal ventilation holes, oil control rings, chrome nitride coated upper compression, and the legendary Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve fuel injection system. The engine uses fine-spray, 8-hole fuel injectors that improve fuel atomization which helps derive more power from the air and fuel mixture. Transistorized ignition control circuit in the engine helps to maintain the precision of the spark timing regardless of the temperature of the engine so that the performance remains consistent. The pistons were designed using fatigue analysis technology and Finite Element Method (FEM) and they are combined with MotoGP developed camshaft profiles.

The bike has a six speed, constant mesh transmission with vertically staggered shafts that minimizes engine length, and a back-torque limiting clutch that aids smooth downshift and improved corner entry. The exhaust system features a four into one setup that improves the throttle response and maximizes torque. The titanium muffler includes a Suzuki Exhaust Tuning valve. The rider is provided with a Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) which can be used to select one of two MotoGP developed control maps for the drivetrain according to personal preferences and road conditions.

Chassis and suspension

To ensure that the rider is comfortable, the Suzuki GSX–R750 comes with 3-way adjustable footpegs, a short fuel tank, and an adjustable shift lever.  The interface includes a lightweight instrument cluster that has a programmable engine rpm indicator and an analog tachometer. The LCD includes the odometer, reverse trip meter, speedometer, gear position indicators, and coolant temperature indicator. The bike features a single rear shock with adjustable compression damping and rebound and an adjustable ride height. The electronically controlled steering damper ensures that the response is light at low speeds and increases the damping force at higher speeds.

The Suzuki GSX – R750 was designed to be a top performer and has always had superior handling as the most important aspect. The compact design and lightweight chassis helps to improve cornering, acceleration, and braking. The BREMBO monoblock radial mount calipers ensure that the powerful acceleration and incredible agility is matched with the required braking ability. The careful balance of a 750 cc engine with the lightweight design gives it nimble handling without sacrificing raw power. The bike comes with an estimated top speed of over 186 mph, making it an excellent contender for the track.
